The Kilclooney Dolmen is a pair of portal Dolmens, popularly known as “The beds of Diarmaid and Grainne”.
On the east of the lane behind the Kilclooney church lies this magnificent site, composed by two dolmens within the remains of a 82 foot long cairn.
Both their chambers face eastwards and are about 20 feet apart. The larger has a capstone which is some 13 feet long and about 20 foot across, almost matching the giant capstone at Browne’s Hill Dolmen, Co. Carlow. Kilclooney’s capstone is supported by twin uprights6 foot high. The western chamber, now partially collapsed, is almost identical but smaller.Double matted white/black
