In the tradition of the Book of Kells, The ancient art of medieval illuminated manuscripts and illuminations. The framed prints are reproductions of illuminated manuscript originals, scripted in the tradition of the Book of Kells by artist, Kevin Dillon. Using rediscovered medieval techniques, Kevin produces his own paints from crushed semi- precious stones, (lapis lazuli, cinnabar, malachite etc…) formulates the ink, scrapes and prepares the calfskin vellum, then meticulously scripts and illuminates each artistic piece, overlaying them with 24k gold. Kevin, son of Thomas Francis Dillon, Irish immigrant to Canada has been creating these manuscripts since 1988. Each reproduction is printed on 100% rag paper with UV inks proven to last 150+ years before fading. The wax seal melted into the print is Kevin’s signature.
